Roof Replacement Process

Roof Replacement Process in Warner Robins and surrounding areas

The roof replacement process can seem daunting, but that’s only because there are lot of steps that need to be taken in order to be sure that your new roof is built properly and installed the right way to make sure it will last for another 20 years. Each step in the roof replacement process is important. When you hire experienced local roofers to replace your roof they will approach each part of the roof replacement process with the same commitment to quality.

The first step in the roof replacement process is to prepare the roof and your driveway for what’s coming. There will be some debris that falls onto your driveway so you may need to park your vehicles in the garage or on the street out of the way.

You also will need to make sure that you don’t let your pets out anywhere near the house where the workers will be starting to build your new roof. Take all flower boxes or planter boxes inside or into the back yard to keep them safe and remove any toys like a basketball hoop that would make it tough to get trucks or equipment into the area.

The next step is for the roofers to completely demolish and take down the existing roof. This can be exciting but also nerve wracking for home owners who may feel some panic about the state of their home. It’s normal to be a little overwhelmed when you see your house with the roof off but that will pass.

After the entire old roof is taken down and destroyed the roofers will install the flashing on the roof. This will prevent water and moisture from getting into your home’s walls and it’s one of the most important steps in the roof replacement process. The roofers also might put a lip on the roof that is designed to push rainwater runoff even further past your home so that it doesn’t flood into your walls through your gutters.

Then when the flashing has been installed work can begin on the new roof. First the roofers will lay down the underlayment, which is usually paper but can be rubber too. The underlayment goes underneath the shingles as an added layer of protection for your company. The shingles are installed on top of the underlayment. The time it takes to install the shingles varies greatly depending on the type of roofing material that you chose for your roof.

The last step in the roof replacement process is the cleanup. The roofers will remove all trash and roofing material scraps and they will use a high powered magnet to clean up any nails or other metal materials that may have fallen onto your driveway during the roof installation.
